Tottenham Hotspur has been recognized as the best-run football club in England according to the Fair Game Index.
The Fair Game organization, which works with 34 EFL and non-league clubs, analyzed data from clubs across the top seven divisions in English football. They evaluated the clubs based on financial sustainability, good governance, fan engagement, and equality standards, giving them a score out of 100.
Tottenham Hotspur emerged as the top-ranked club with a combined score of 68.2 out of 100, particularly excelling in the area of equality. Manchester United came in second with a score of 65.4, benefiting from high scores in financial stability and good governance. Other Premier League teams in the top 10 include Brentford, Fulham, and Liverpool.
Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy, expressed delight at the recognition, stating that it demonstrates the club’s commitment to good governance, sustainability, fan engagement, and supporting their local communities. Levy believes this ranking will enable sustainable investment into the club’s football operations to ensure they remain competitive.
The Fair Game organization has been advocating for the introduction of an independent football regulator to help improve governance in the sport. They aim to develop practical solutions to address the issues of financial sustainability, good governance, fan engagement, and equality standards across English football.
